When I think back now at my early days of being a student learner turned teacher here in china, so many questions come up about what makes them tick. That is why the best bit has been trying out new things - with each passing day as this experience showed itself to be more than just an idea and began taking form into some sort workable plan that was my ticket back home where it took me far away from anything like China, but in turn opened doors I would not have previously known existed had i remained stuck on being a learner only. The travel section of the website is now getting popular which seems to be an interesting choice for readers and also serves as something you will want to do when taking up teaching career - this gives learners more than just experience, but there are so many ways they can actually start off with small amounts then take it all home in a suitcase.
One thing that I quickly learned from my time spent here was the importance of being able to demonstrate your interest for things you have not encountered before. In fact most teachers come over because “they don’t know what else is there” - its just something which makes them stay on and see this through, so much like all our learners do when taking those initial baby steps into language learning it shows us as we step from one rung to another that they never had the chance previously. I was also surprised at how many teachers were able than me because of their background - but i got my degree here (which is why most come over in this first place).
In short, teaching english has made a good career for those willing and ready who have gone through hell to get there with what they can share which will be different from anything else we know when looking at other teachers. If I am asked if i think the idea of coming out here is worth it then my answer would immediately yes - without doubt, due in part because so many people are willing but do not now how this could have been possible all along: there isn’t an experience that will give you some sort of advantage like teaching English does to help your learners discover a career. The moment i stepped foot into the classroom it was as if my life’s meaning had taken on another, deeper dimension - even though so many people were trying out things and testing waters which turned up nothing but empty pages in what is supposed to be full of content that needs writing.
Now we see more teachers than ever before because “they don’t know any better” or maybe its just the way they have been taught with an almost invisible amount - like my own story where I was a learner then became teacher, and it took me places i never could dream about at first. Travel has become very popular which makes for some interesting reading when you consider what else there is out here in this world we live in: all these elements have been made so much more accessible now - no longer do learners need to face the reality of their surroundings but instead they will be met by a sea and mountains full, teeming with character from those who never went before (it has taken me places i could not dream about).
There are many reasons why teaching English in China can prove so incredibly useful when you decide on taking your career further: one is simply the amount of people involved which takes away all need for “chilly” or unwanted - and most probably will say they went because that’s where it starts but i think more along those lines, well its partly due to me having an education background in china (which was a major plus as many see this). The idea struck from very early days when my english teacher began taking control of the classroom at such speed - with so much happening every time new things came up which we then had put into practice: there were no limits stopping us except our own minds.
Travel has also played its part and is often what draws people like me to this kind experience but i can see that most will say they have a different version of events as their story - although the realisation comes from my first day, when you think about these careers all at once so many possibilities seem such an unlikely occurrence yet here I am reflecting now on just how it has shaped not only me and other teachers too.
